Health Canada approved Super Teas are the nation’s first to be fortified with vitamins and minerals and can help protect against seasonal sickness
In addition to the leaves and the temperature changing, a commitment to personal well-being drops off the radar as social commitments ramp up, reports new research from Tetley*. In fact, more than half (57%) of Quebeckers feel more tired when the clocks go back, 56% regularly experience stress, and 89% want to do as much as they can to avoid getting sick this fall and winter.
Taking a toll on their bodies and health, more than one-quarter (28%) of Canadians report that the fall/winter season is so hectic, they often get sick. Lack of physical and mental rest contributes to a weakened immune system – a one-way ticket to a not-so-happy or healthy holiday season.
Best-laid plans: prioritizing well-being
To uncover the mindset of Quebeckers, Tetley’s research reveals the top seven things they prioritize as part of their daily routine:
- Eating and drinking healthily
- Getting at least eight hours of sleep
- Drinking two or more litres of water
- Speaking with family/friends
- Working out
- Taking a vitamin supplement
- Meditation/finding a moment of calm
Though ideal on paper, when it comes to making these priorities a reality, Quebeckers fall short. Nearly one-third (31%) admit that they don’t have time to make nutritious meals, around 3.3 million don’t prioritize getting at least 8 hours’ sleep as a top 3 priority, and most (73%) say they are less inclined to work out when the weather is bad.
Chloé Phillips, a Certified Nutritional Practitioner, has dedicated her career to helping Canadians balance nutrition, movement and mindfulness. Her mission is to empower Quebeckers to lead healthy lives by making practical, sustainable lifestyle changes, which can include tea drinking. Chloé encourages Canadians to make good on their seasonal health resolutions through simple swaps in their daily routine:
“Nearly three-quarters of Quebeckers (74%) say they prefer to have a routine to follow. As we enter the colder months, our routines are often disrupted which can lead us to getting run down. Caring for our immune system is an all-season responsibility, yet more than half (53%) of Quebeckers neglect their well-being to take care of others, which is impossible to do when feeling under the weather. Many of us enjoy a hot beverage throughout the day, so making a simple swap to include a Tetley Super Tea can not only help you to find a moment of calm that we all crave, but as noted by Health Canada, can help fortify your body with the right ingredients to stand up to seasonal sickness. Protecting against the seasonal sickness that over a third of Quebeckers (38%) admit fearing is easier than you think. It can be as simple as starting with a cup of tea,’” says Chloé.

‘Tis the season: tips to stay healthy
Having a wellness plan is the first step. Chloé Phillips shares three tips for taking some ‘me time’ to help you stay healthy this season:
- Make well-being your new routine: Nearly three-quarters of Quebeckers (74%) say they prefer to have a routine, and no matter how busy your schedule is, you need to find time to work your well-being into your day-to-day. Whether it’s taking a short walk around the block after a meal, or making sure you drink two litres of water, incorporating movement and mindfulness into your routine slowly is a great place to start.
- Take a moment: Creating moments of mindfulness where you can breathe, reflect and activate your “rest and digest” mode is essential for recharging and regulating your nervous system. Yet, only 17% of Quebeckers prioritize this in their top three daily wellness routines. Just five minutes of intentional calm can help you reset and restore balance, preparing your mind and body for the tasks ahead. Whether it’s sipping your favourite tea, practicing deep breathing or simply sitting in silence, these small moments can make a big difference in helping you relax and recharge.
- Get your nutrients: With many Quebeckers falling ill multiple times each year, a weakened immune system could indicate a lack of essential nutrients, whether through supplementation or diet. Zinc and and Vitamin D are crucial for normal immune function, yet less than half (41%) report consistently taking supplements to support their health. If traditional supplements aren’t your style, sipping on Tetley’s Super Teas is a great way to incorporate these nutrients into your day while enjoying a comforting moment of calm.
Tetley Super Teas are available across Canada at grocery retailers including Maxi, IGA, Walmart, Pharmaprix, Provigo, Super C and Metro, or online at Tetley.ca and Amazon.ca.
*ABOUT THE SURVEY: These findings are from a survey conducted by Tetley from August 12 to August 14, 2024, among a representative sample of 1,508 online Canadians who are members of the Angus Reid Forum. The survey was conducted in English and French. For comparison purposes only, a probability sample of this size would carry a margin of error of +/-2.53 percentage points, 19 times out of 20.
